Laura Nobili (b. 2006) is a Canadian composer who is currently studying at Manhattan School of Music under the mentorship of Dr. J. Mark Stambaugh. Born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Nobili began composition at the age of 12, and played piano and flute throughout her childhood. Her music covers a wide range of instrumentations and styles including opera, choral works, chamber music, orchestral pieces, and recently she has been exploring jazz. Her music has been performed by numerous professional and student musicians in Canada, the United States, Italy, and Austria. Nobili has also conducted several of her own pieces including "Winter Flowers" (choir), "Hope" (choir), "New Beginnings" (symphonic band), and the Overture to her operatic musical "Macbeth the Musical" (symphonic band). In addition to her composition endeavors, Nobili is on the Student Advisory Board at the Metropolitan Opera, and she is one of the founders of the Manhattan School of Music Opera Club.Â
